2017 LBFE Summer Celebration!
On June 17, 2017, LBFE will be celebrating summer in a special event designed for Elder Friends in our Visiting and Advocacy Program, their Visiting Volunteers and Event/Holiday Volunteers. The Summer Celebration will replace the Easter Dinner that LBFE had traditionally held. This new direction puts the focus on those involved in our core service of home visits, but with a new twist.
Elders and Visiting Volunteers are invited to gather together as we celebrate your special relationships. And because we deeply appreciate those of you who are long-time holiday volunteers -- many of you having generously served our Elder Friends for decades! -- you are invited to join us as volunteers in the areas of set-up, greeting, serving, hospitality, entertainment and clean-up.
This fun summer event with a warm-weather theme will include a meal, entertainment and opportunity for our Elder Friends to engage with many other volunteers in the LBFE family in addition to their Visiting Volunteers in a joy-filled experience. Please stay tuned for more information.
Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners
Each year, Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly serves up Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with plenty of laughter and cheer for our elder friends. The spirited celebrations bring comfort and companionship to isolated elders during a season when loneliness is most deeply felt. This is made possible through the generosity of individuals, families and community groups who donate their time, talent and treasure. In fact, many volunteers make this a part of their own holiday tradition year after year!
Please consider volunteering with us this year! Opportunities include meal preparation, serving, clean-up, entertainment, meal delivery and more. Our greatest need is for drivers/meal companions to provide a truly warm, connected experience for our elders. Note that many positions fill up quickly!
