Elder Support and Advocacy Volunteers
Elder Support and Advocacy (ESA) Volunteers are trained volunteers who work with older adults requiring a higher level of volunteer companionship than our traditional visiting services. Elders enrolled in ESA are generally experiencing transitions related to aging, which can include health, adjustment or isolation issues. ESA volunteers assist elders with such tools as goal-planning in assisting with issues from grief and loss to role changes, health concerns, isolation and loneliness and more.
ESA volunteers receive an extensive 36-hour training, plus monthly training and group supervision. Services are provided on a one-to-one basis in the elder’s home.
